Young Harris College men's and women's tennis announced their 2024 fall schedule today. The Mountain Lions host two of their five matches this fall.
The men's and women's team's kick-off the season at home with the YHC Invite at the Bob & Gayle Nichols Tennis Complex, starting on Friday September 20th. Both teams hit the road the following week to compete in the International Tennis Association Regionals. The Palmetto Tennis center in South Carolina hosts the ITA Regionals from Friday September 27th through Sunday.
Turning the calendar to October, Young Harris will compete at the Lander Invitational on the 12th. Following the Lander Invitational, the Mountain Lions return home to the Bob & Gayle Nichols Tennis Complex to host the YHC/UNG Hidden Duel. The event starts on Friday, October 18th and ends on Sunday the 20th.
Young Harris travels to the University of North Georgia for their final fall match. The UNG/YHC Invite is on Friday, October 25th through that Sunday at the UNG Tennis Complex at Yahoola Creek. The Mountain Lion women are 4-9 all-time against UNG while the men are 2-11. Both teams will work to grab a win and close out the fall season on a high note.
The men's team is coming off a historic season that saw the Mountain Lions finish a perfect 8-0 in conference play to capture the program's first Conference Carolinas regular season title.
The women's team finished 13-12 overall and 5-4 in conference play. The Mountain Lions found their rhythm in the conference tournament, beat seventh seeded Mount Olive, and upset the fourth seed Barton College in the quarterfinals 4-3 to advance to the semifinals against Erskine. YHC's strong tournament run ended in the semifinals where The Fleet prevailed 4-2.
