On Thursday, November 7, 2024, at approximately 4:24 p.m., Clay County Lieutenant Tyler Faggard conducted a traffic stop on a white Ford F-150 near 1035 NC Highway 69 in Hayesville. The driver, identified as 43-year-old Jerimiah Nathaniel Bogert of Blairsville, Georgia, informed Lt. Faggard that his driver’s license was suspended.
While Lt. Faggard was issuing a citation for driving on a suspended license, Sergeant Steven Smith arrived at the scene with K-9 Luca. During the stop, Luca alerted to the presence of a controlled substance inside the vehicle. A search of the truck revealed a clear plastic bag containing a crystal-like substance, later identified as 21 grams of methamphetamine after a field test.
Bogert was arrested without incident and charged with Possession With Intent to Sell or Deliver Methamphetamine. He was transported to the Clay County Detention Center, where he was issued a $10,000 secured bond.
