Traffic Stop Leads To Drug Arrest

On 04-03-2025, the Towns County Sheriff’s Uniform Patrol was doing drug interdiction and concentrated patrol.

A traffic stop was initiated on Hwy 76 at El Cancun restaurant, and probable cause was determined. After the search of the vehicle, Austin Grant Messmam, 28, of Michigan, was arrested and charged with the following:

• Felony, Possession of a schedule I Controlled Substance

• Misdemeanor, possession of drug related objects

• Misdemeanor, driving while license suspended or revoked

• Misdemeanor, exhaust system
