Earlier this week, Clay County Schools welcomed two distinguished guests: Heather Smith, the North Carolina Teacher of the Year, and Dr. Brandon Sutton, the NCDPI Regional Coordinator. The visit provided an opportunity to showcase the innovative programs and educational achievements within the district.
During their time in Hayesville, Smith and Sutton, accompanied by Superintendent Melissa Godfrey, toured various school facilities. They observed the unique House System in action, including kindergarten students participating in House Games. The group also visited the Teacher Cadet program and witnessed several engaging classroom lessons.
Clay County Schools expressed pride in hosting the visitors and sharing the positive developments occurring within the district. The visit took place on Friday morning, highlighting the district’s commitment to educational excellence and community engagement.
