TOWNS COUNTY, Ga. – A routine traffic stop by the Georgia State Patrol on Friday, Jan. 31, 2025, led to the arrest of a North Carolina man on drug-related charges.
According to authorities, the stop occurred on State Highway 66 during a regular patrol. During the course of the stop, probable cause was established to conduct a search of the vehicle. The Towns County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Unit was called in to assist with the investigation.
Upon searching the vehicle, law enforcement officers discovered a plastic bag containing a crystal-like substance consistent with methamphetamine, along with drug paraphernalia. As a result, Dennis Earl Harper, 51, of Warne, North Carolina, was taken into custody.
Harper has been charged with felony possession of methamphetamine and misdemeanor possession and use of drug-related objects.
Authorities remind the public that all individuals are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. The investigation remains ongoing.
