On Monday, Dec.9, the varsity Lady Yellow Jacket basketball team travelled to Cherokee County to take on the Lady Eagles. Coming off a heart-breaking loss in their season opener to Towns County, the Lady Jackets looked to get in the win column.
Unfortunately for Hayesville, the game was the second nail-biter of the season and the Lady Jackets were once again on the losing end. Hiwassee Dam defended their home court to get the 60-54 victory.
The Lady Jackets were led offensively by Briley Clampitt and Bryleigh Krieger, who each tallied 10 points, showcasing their scoring consistency throughout the game. Ava Shook, Brooke Graves, and Breanna Abrams contributed 8 points apiece, helping to keep Hayesville competitive. Emma Ashe added 6 points, while Kayla Brown and Ava Moore chipped in 4 and 2 points, respectively.
Hayesville will try to get that illusive first win of the season with yet another road game. This time against the Lady Highlanders of Highlands High. Tipoff is set for 6:30 on Tuesday, Dec. 10.
