On Monday, Sept. 16th, Hayesville High School's two volleyball teams made the trip over the mountain into Macon Country to face the Lady Panthers of Franklin. Unfortunately for the Lady Jackets, things didn't go as planned and the teams returned home with losses.

The varsity team got off to a strong start, winning the opening set of their match 25-21. In set two, Franklin evens things up with a 25-20 win.

All tied up, the teams took to the court again to try to claim momentum and an advantage in set three. The Lady Panthers again came out on top, 25-18. Hayesville had a chance to extend the match with a win in set four, but it wasn't meant to be as Franklin won the set 25-22 to win the match 3-1.

In the JV contest, Franklin needed the minimum of two sets to get the match victory. The Lady Jackets played strong, but just couldn't wrestle away the lead from the home team. The Lady Panthers won set one 25-22 and finished off the match with a 25-18 set-two victory.

On Thursday, Sept. 19th, the teams will return to Smoky Mountain Conference play when Andrews comes to town. Action begins at 4 p.m. with the middle school contest.
