Kyle Larson clinched a historic victory at the AdventHealth 400 at Kansas Speedway, sealing the win in NASCAR's closest finish ever, edging out Chris Buescher by a mere inch.
The race was sent into overtime following Kyle Busch's spin on Lap 261, with Buescher briefly taking the lead before Larson made a daring move on the final lap. Larson's triumph marked his second win of the season, second at Kansas, and 25th of his career, also securing the sixth win of the season for Hendrick Motorsports.
In Larson's own words, "That was wild," as he described the intense final moments of the race. Despite fading to fourth before the caution, Larson strategically navigated his way to victory. Chase Elliott and Martin Truex Jr. finished closely behind Larson in the frenzied overtime. Buescher, despite a strong performance, expressed disappointment at being so close to victory.
The race featured 27 lead changes among 10 drivers and seven cautions. Larson emphasized the excitement of the race and expressed pride in being part of it.
The Cup Series now heads to the Carolinas for the Darlington throwback race.
