The varsity Yellow Jacket men's soccer team hit the pitch for their first match of the season on Monday, Sept. 9th. Hayesville hosted Blue Ridge Early College in the season opener while the Bobcats ultimately got the 3-1 victory, the Jackets were able to manufacture positives to build on as the season progresses.

Blue Ridge found the net Early and fairly often in the first half. The visitors found themselves up 3-0 at the halftime break.

On the other side of the field, personnel changes and a more aggressive attack seemed to be a spark for the Jackets. With 24 minutes left in the game, senior Eli Chandler launched a long, high ball over the defense and clear over the goalie to put Hayesville on the board.

Hayesville was strong on defense, shutting the Bobcats down in the second half. However, Chandler's goal was the only Hayesville shot to find the net.

The team will return to action Wednesday, Sept. 11 with a road-match against Highlands. Start time is set for 6:00 p.m.
