The Hayesville Yellow Jackets hosted the Towns County Indians on Saturday, December 20th, in a spirited showdown. Despite a strong effort, Hayesville came up short, falling to the Indians 50-43.
Towns County set the tone early, jumping to a 14-7 lead after the first quarter. By halftime, the Indians extended their advantage to 24-17. Hayesville fought hard to stay within reach, trailing 39-31 at the end of the third quarter. A determined final push by the Yellow Jackets narrowed the gap, but Towns County held on for the win.
While the loss was a setback, it marked an improvement for Hayesville compared to their first meeting with Towns County earlier in the season, a 67-51 defeat.
Slade Crouch led the Yellow Jackets in scoring with 16 points, followed by Eli Chandler with 11 and Brady Reynolds with 10. Jackson Sellers contributed 4 points, and Landon Trout added 2 to round out the scoring for Hayesville.
The Yellow Jackets, now 2-4 on the season, are gearing up for the upcoming Battle of the States tournament. The team remains optimistic, focusing on continued improvement as they prepare for the challenges ahead.
