Hayesville High School Hosts Stellar Track and Field Meet

On Wednesday, March 26, 2025, Hayesville High School welcomed five competing teams to its track and field, where the hosting Yellow Jackets showcased an impressive array of talent. The meet featured standout performances across multiple events, with Hayesville athletes securing numerous top finishes in both individual and relay competitions.


Girls’ Highlights

The Hayesville girls dominated the sprints and mid-distance events. Kylah Eller led the charge, taking 1st in the 200-meter dash (28.13) and 2nd in the 100-meter dash (13.38). Libbie Moore also shone brightly, winning the 400-meter dash (1:08.96) and placing 2nd in the 200-meter (30.13). Kaydence Morrow and LaRiyah Carr rounded out strong showings in the sprints, earning 3rd (14.03) and 4th (14.14) in the 100-meter, and 3rd (30.38) and 4th (30.40) in the 200-meter, respectively.


In the 800-meter run, Savannah Burch claimed 1st (2:42.04), followed closely by Raelynn Wood in 2nd (2:49.04). Wood also secured 3rd in the 3200-meter (14:09.43), while Sydney Greenstone took 2nd in the same event (13:00.14). The hurdles saw Briley Clampitt excel with a 1st-place finish in the 300-meter hurdles (58.06) and 2nd in the 100-meter hurdles (18.55), with Khylei Alberta close behind in both events.


The relay teams were a force, winning the 4x200-meter (1:56.99) and 4x800-meter (11:40.65), while placing 2nd in the 4x100-meter (55.99) and 4x400-meter (4:43.70). In field events, Blaire Hedden dominated the discus with a 1st-place throw of 81-8 and took 3rd in the shot put (29-10), while Aleigh Crawford added a 3rd in discus (73-11).


Boys’ Highlights

The Hayesville boys matched their counterparts’ success, particularly in the sprints and distance events. Elio Murillo sped to 1st in the 100-meter dash (11.36), with Kenyon Rogers-Gibby (11.43) and Trey Graves (11.68) taking 2nd and 3rd. Daniel Allen claimed the 200-meter title (23.87), followed by Graves in 2nd (25.03). The 400-meter saw Logan Cummins (58.46) and Kaden Ledford (59.29) finish 3rd and 4th.


Distance standout Noah Carter swept the 1600-meter (4:57.87) and 3200-meter (11:24.64), while Jackson Dye won the 800-meter (2:20.73) and placed 2nd in the 1600-meter (5:10.49). The relay teams were unstoppable, winning the 4x100-meter (46.66), 4x200-meter (1:35.04), 4x400-meter (3:46.81), and 4x800-meter (9:20.28), with additional strong finishes in each event.


In field events, Will Brown led with a 1st-place shot put throw (45-11.5) and 3rd in discus (106-6), while E.J. Mapasua took 2nd in discus (110-6) and 3rd in shot put (42-9.5). Cooper Matheson earned 2nd in the long jump (18-1.5) and 3rd in the triple jump (35-10).
