The Hayesville Yellow Jackets faced a tough challenge Thursday night, falling to the Franklin Panthers in a high-scoring non-conference basketball game at home. Despite their best efforts, the Yellow Jackets were unable to overcome Franklin's fast start, eventually losing 91-61.
The Panthers came out firing, quickly establishing control with a commanding 31-12 lead by the end of the first quarter. Hayesville struggled to keep pace with Franklin's offense, as the deficit grew to 54-29 at halftime. The third quarter saw more of the same, with the Panthers maintaining their momentum to lead 74-45 going into the final frame. The Yellow Jackets showed resilience in the fourth quarter but ultimately could not close the gap.
Brady Reynolds led the Yellow Jackets’ scoring efforts with 22 points, showcasing his skill and determination on the court. Slade Crouch contributed 13 points, while Cooper Matheson and Landon Trout added 12 and 10 points, respectively. Despite their individual performances, Hayesville couldn't match Franklin's offensive firepower.
The Yellow Jackets will look to bounce back quickly as they return to action on Friday, Jan. 17, in another home game, this time against Nantahala. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m., and the team will be eager to get back in the win column in front of their home crowd.
Hayesville fans are encouraged to come out and support their team as the Yellow Jackets aim to turn the page and start fresh with a strong performance.
