Hayesville Basketball Teams Dominate Summit Charter

The Hayesville High School varsity basketball teams made the trip to Cashiers, NC, on Wednesday, Feb. 5, to take on Summit Charter High School, and both squads came away with convincing victories.


In the girls’ game, the Lady Yellow Jackets set the tone early, establishing a strong lead in the first quarter and maintaining control throughout the contest. Hayesville secured a 52-35 victory behind a stellar performance from Ava Shook, who led all scorers with 19 points. Mallory Peck contributed 8 points, while Briley Clampitt added 6 to help power the Lady Jackets to the win.


The boys’ team followed up with an even more dominant showing, cruising to an 82-44 victory over Summit Charter. Hayesville’s balanced offensive attack saw Riley Rogers lead the team with 16 points, while Brady Reynolds added 14, and Brendan Lynch chipped in 12. The Yellow Jackets controlled the tempo from the outset and never looked back, securing a decisive road win.


Both Hayesville teams will be back in action on Friday, Feb. 7, as they travel to take on Smoky Mountain Conference opponent Andrews. The Jackets will look to carry their momentum into another key matchup as they continue their strong seasons.
