GOP To Meet For First Time In 2025

Press Release

The Clay County Republican Party will host its first monthly meeting of 2025 on Thursday, January 16, upstairs in the Community Services Building at 6:30 pm.  The meeting is open to all Clay County Republicans and Unaffiliated voters.  Light refreshments, snacks, and desserts will begin the evening, and attendees are encouraged to bring a covered dish, snack, or dessert to share. The business meeting will follow at 7:00 PM.

The featured speakers will be NC State Senator Kevin Corbin and NC State Representative Karl Gillespie.  They will be part of a panel including Clay County Commissioners Randy Nichols (Vice Chair) and Dwight Penland.  The four officials will discuss not only accomplishments during their past terms and the impacts on or for Clay County, but they will also give us a glimpse of their goals and projects for the 2025-2026 sessions and how Clay County will benefit from their work.  Constituents will gain a better understanding of the importance of and the positive outcomes when our local County officials and State officials work together.

The regular monthly meetings are held in the upstairs meeting room at the Clay County Community Services Building located at 25 Riverside Drive, Hayesville, NC 28904.

*** UPCOMING CLAY GOP CONVENTION IN MARCH! ***

Also, please save the date of Thursday, March 20 for the 2025 Clay County GOP Convention.  The Convention will once again be held at the Beal Center with details to follow.  PLEASE NOTE: In every odd-numbered year the County Convention shall elect Officers and Executive Committee members for a two-year term.  While most incumbents will run for re-election, there will be several open positions in which the incumbent is not running for re-election.

If you would like information on the committee’s duties or have an interest in appearing on the ballot to fill any of the open officer seats (Chair and Secretary) or executive member at-large seats, please contact any executive board member during the month of January. The ballots will be set at the February Executive Committee meeting the first part of February. Nominations may also be made from the floor during the convention and all nominees will be given the opportunity to speak before the votes are cast.

For information regarding any of the above, please contact Clay County GOP Chair Barbara Deas at 678-644-5561.
