Clay County Schools Bids Farewell to Longtime Educator Wilma West

The Clay County Schools Exceptional Children’s Department marked a bittersweet milestone Friday, December 20, as they said goodbye to Mrs. Wilma West on her final day before retirement.


Mrs. West has been a cornerstone of the school system for 23 years, serving in various roles throughout her distinguished career. Most recently, she has been the OCS Job Coach Teacher Assistant at Hayesville High School, providing vital guidance and support to students preparing for the workforce.


Her colleagues gathered to celebrate her impactful career and shared heartfelt memories of their time working alongside her. Through tears and laughter, they expressed their gratitude for her unwavering dedication and kindness, wishing her a happy and healthy retirement.

“Best wishes, Wilma! You have served Clay County Schools well,” said officials on the school's Facebook page.


Mrs. West now looks forward to spending her retirement enjoying the activities and people she loves most. The students, staff, and community of Clay County Schools will undoubtedly miss her presence and contributions.
