The Clay County Republican Party is set to host its April 2025 monthly meeting on Thursday, April 17, at 6:30 p.m. in the upstairs meeting room of the Community Services Building at 25 Riverside Drive, Hayesville. The event is open to all Clay County Republicans and unaffiliated voters, promising an evening of community, discussion, and forward-looking strategy.

The meeting will begin with light refreshments, snacks, and desserts, with attendees encouraged to bring a covered dish, snack, or dessert to share. The business portion of the meeting will start at 7:00 p.m., featuring a special guest speaker, Ms. Merry Guy, PhD, from Henderson County. Ms. Guy, a candidate for Chair of NC District 11 GOP at the District Convention on April 26, 2025, brings a wealth of experience to the table. A Conservative Christian, she has been married for 43 years, has three adult children and three grandchildren, and holds a PhD in Chemistry. Her 30-year career with Dupont, Sterling, and Agfa spanned research, project management, and marketing.

Ms. Guy’s political journey began in 2016 as a Precinct Chair, followed by a four-year stint as Henderson County GOP Chair. During her tenure, she unified a divided party, established a year-round headquarters, led two successful "Get Out The Vote" campaigns, and raised approximately $150,000 for the party. Since stepping down, she has remained active, serving on the State GOP Executive Committee, State GOP Credentialing Committee, and State GOP Election Integrity Committee. As a potential District Chair, Ms. Guy aims to leverage her experience to support the counties of the 11th District, focusing on winning Republican elections.

Looking ahead, the Clay County GOP announced its Sixth Annual Law Enforcement Appreciation Night (LEAN), scheduled for Saturday, May 17, 2025, at West Tubing Company, located at 6175 Old Hwy 64 W, Warne, NC. This family cookout on Brasstown Creek will run from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., with the meal served at 5:00 p.m. The event, which will replace the regular May meeting, aims to honor Clay County’s law enforcement officers. Additional details will be shared in the May Clay GOP Newsletter.

For more information on either event, contact Clay County GOP Chair June West at 706-781-8610.
