Since I've been in Office as your Sheriff, I hope it's been evident that I've never allowed politics to enter into the business of the Office. This has been true here on the Sheriff's Office's Facebook page as well. This post might well be the only exception. For the stability of the Sheriff's Office and it's professional partners, I think it important for all to know the following from your Sheriff between now and 11/03/26.
Yesterday, I was asked a few strange questions about my future intentions concerning the Sheriff's Office....rumors as it were. As has always been my plan, I am going to seek a second term as your Sheriff of Clay County. If the wonderful citizens of Clay County will have me for another term, I would be honored to serve as your Sheriff until 2030.
When I began running for Sheriff in mid-2021, I pledged to always be accessible to the people of Clay County. My political cards had my personal cell number on them. Since taking office in December of 2022, my official business cards also have this same personal cell phone number on them.
My personal cell number has been given out thousands of times. It's the only phone I have and with a handful of exceptions, I ALWAYS respond when called. Making myself available, while present at the office, is another way I remain responsive and in touch with the people of Clay County.
In just a few months, any opposition I may have will have to come forward and begin campaigning against me and yes, my administration. Please know that your support for me and my administration, filled with dedicated and hard-working folks, will forever be appreciated.
